Russians were told the amount of the basic summer wardrobe
The minimum summer wardrobe, which includes a T-shirt, shirt, shorts or skirt, dress, jeans, sandals, bag, hat and swimsuit, will cost Russians an average of 22 thousand rubles. This is stated in the results of a study by analysts of the HUMOPEU wallet and the Check Index analytical center of the OFD Platform company, which were reviewed by Izvestia on May 30.
According to analysts, from May 1 to May 18, 2025, the total number of purchases of women's clothing decreased by 15% compared to the same period in 2024. At the same time, the turnover of payments increased by 7%, and the average receipt increased by 27% and amounted to 12,160 rubles.
"In the run-up to summer, we at UCASSA are seeing an increase in demand for vacation and sportswear. So, from May 1 to May 18, the number of purchases of resort and sportswear increased by 22% compared to last year, the turnover in this category increased by 32%, and the average receipt increased by 8% and amounted to 2,720 rubles," said Irina Polyakova, head of corporate customer support at YUMOPEU.
At the same time, since the beginning of 2025, the demand for clothing in the offline segment has been gradually decreasing. This may be due to the strengthening of the savings model, analysts say.
"There is a noticeable decrease in unit sales in the fashion sector. Among other things, this helps to increase discounts and reduce the average price tag in the category. The increase in the volume of purchases is observed only in the subcategories of clothing for a resort holiday," the experts of the Check Index analytical center added.
Thus, the number of purchases of swimwear from May 1 to May 20, 2025 increased by 6% compared to 2024, the average receipt was 3,032 rubles (+4%). The number of purchases of sandals decreased by 7% (check — 2,124 rubles). Purchases of summer dresses decreased by 8%, the average check reached 3,909 rubles.
The number of purchases of bags also decreased by 14% year—on—year, the average receipt was 3,265 rubles), hats — by 15% (the average receipt was 967 rubles), jeans — by 8% (the receipt was 4,032 rubles), shirts — by 11% (989 rubles), shorts — by 9% (1,461 rubles). At the same time, Russians began to buy T-shirts more often (+7%), the average check reached 966 rubles.
Earlier, on March 19, it became known that Russians were more active in purchasing summer and mid-season clothing and shoes in early March than a year earlier. This was told to Izvestia by online platforms. Analysts called the abnormally warm beginning of March the reason for the shift in demand towards lighter clothing.
