Russian President Vladimir Putin has instructed Roscosmos to ensure the launch of small spacecraft for educational and scientific purposes. The corresponding instruction is contained in the list of orders published on May 22 following the meeting of the head of state with students at the Bauman Moscow State Technical University, which took place on April 16.

"The Roscosmos State Corporation, taking into account the previously given instructions, will provide support for the launch of small spacecraft for educational and scientific purposes, providing for the extension of the UniverSat program," the document says on the Kremlin's website.

In addition, Roscosmos, together with the Russian Ministry of Education and Science, was instructed to support internships for students whose programs are related to the rocket and space industry.

It is specified that reports on the implementation of the order must be submitted before September 1, 2025 and March 1, 2026.

Earlier, on April 16, the Russian leader said that a new national project for the development of the space industry should be approved in the Russian Federation, within the framework of which the long-term goals of the Russian space program will be formulated. In addition, on the same day, Putin stressed that an expedition to Mars is a grandiose task, but there are a number of issues that need to be resolved for this. The President added that Russia is considered an attractive partner for other states in deep space exploration.
