The nine-speed automatic transmission, developed in Russia by KATE for premium cars of the Aurus brand, is planned to be used in a modified form on NEFAZ buses. This was stated by Denis Endachev, Executive Director for Information and Intelligent Systems at FSUE NAMI, according to Za Rulem.

"We started to "broadcast" the box developed for Aurus to the industry. On its basis, a modified product was created — almost completely similar to the Aurus box. These boxes are already being tested, and they are planned to be installed on NEFAZ buses, and the control system will be installed on LiAZ," Endachev said.

This solution will allow to increase the volume of production of aggregates, reduce their cost and get a massive Russian product for public transport, he noted.

In addition, according to Endachev, WE are currently considering the production of several types of gearboxes with 6-8 steps and a service life of 250 thousand km, which can cover the segment of passenger cars and light commercial vehicles. It plans to adapt some existing solutions and start assembly in Russia, gradually deepening localization. The project will start within one to two months, he shared.

On March 19, it was reported that the Aurus Komendant crossover was first available on the secondary market. The car produced in 2023 traveled 11.7 thousand km, it was estimated at 43 million rubles. The car for sale is completely covered with a protective polyurethane film and covered with a ceramic compound on top of it.
