There have been 254 road accidents in Russia over the past 24 hours.
Over the past day, 254 road accidents have occurred on Russian roads, in which 33 people were killed and 284 injured. 29 of the dead were passengers and drivers of vehicles. This was reported to Izvestia on May 6 by the State Traffic Inspectorate of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia.
19 accidents involving buses were recorded, in which there were no fatalities, but 25 road users needed medical help. The reason for 13 bus accidents was traffic violations committed by drivers of other vehicles.
As a result of 73 accidents, 34 of which occurred at pedestrian crossings and 39 outside their area of operation, four pedestrians were killed, and 72 more were injured in various degrees of severity. Among the injured were 26 child pedestrians, 14 of whom were injured when crossing the roadway in unintended places. 36 adult pedestrians were injured in similar circumstances.
For example, in the city of Karasuk, Novosibirsk region, a 28-year-old passenger car driver ran over a 32-year-old female pedestrian during the daytime, who was running across the roadway in the visible area of an organized pedestrian crossing. As a result of the incident, the pedestrian was hospitalized with injuries. At the same time, the nearest unregulated pedestrian crossing is located 40 m from the accident site.
Over the past day, 49 accidents involving minors were registered, as a result of which 51 young road users were injured, including 12 passengers, three cyclists and five motor transport drivers under the age of 16. There are no dead children.
In addition, traffic is temporarily blocked in some regions of the country due to a difficult flood situation or adverse weather conditions. So, in North Ossetia — Alania, due to heavy rain, traffic on the A-164 Transcam federal highway from the village of Buron (65 km) to the northern portal of the Roki tunnel (94 km) has been temporarily stopped since yesterday evening. In the Tyumen region, due to flooding of the roadway, the temporary suspension of traffic on 13 highways of regional importance continues.
The State Traffic Inspectorate recommended that motorists, when planning long-distance trips in these and neighboring regions, monitor the weather forecast and media information from traffic closures or restrictions. In case of a negative forecast, it is worthwhile to refrain from using personal vehicles for a while.
If a trip is still necessary, it is necessary to determine in advance the places of possible detour of the problem areas. Before departure, it is necessary to check the technical condition of the vehicle, the operation of lighting devices, "wipers", the braking system, the availability of tires for the season and the fuel level in the gas tank.
"In conditions of precipitation and limited visibility, we urge drivers to slow down and increase the distance to the vehicles in front, as well as to avoid frequent lane changes, avoid sudden maneuvers and overtaking, and strictly comply with traffic regulations related to starting traffic, changing lanes, turning, U-turn, and stopping. Not only your personal life and health depend on observing all these basic measures of motor vehicle safety, but also the lives and health of your passengers and other road users," Police Colonel Anton Belan, deputy head of the Department for Road Safety Promotion and Prevention of Child traffic Injuries at the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, told Izvestia.
The day before, it was reported that the State Duma proposed prescribing warnings for drivers about the inadmissibility of driving cars after taking such drugs in the instructions for the use of medicines containing narcotic or psychotropic substances.
