The state of emergency (emergency) of a municipal nature has been introduced since May 5 in the territory of the Verkhoyansky district of Yakutia due to spreading landscape and forest fires. This was announced on May 6 by the Ministry of Ecology, Nature Management and Forestry of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

"Since May 5, a state of emergency in municipal forests has been introduced in the territory of the Verkhoyansky district. The relevant order of the head of the municipal district has been signed," the ministry said in a statement.

In addition, the ministry clarified that work is currently underway in the Verkhoyansky district of Yakutia to eliminate six forest fires on an area of over 6.5 thousand hectares. 70 employees of forest fire brigades were involved in extinguishing the fire.

On May 4, it became known about the increase in the number of forest fires in the Verkhoyansky district of Yakutia, the number of which reached nine. The flames engulfed more than 2,4 thousand hectares. It was clarified that the fires were located 10 and 19 km from the village of Tomtor, the settlement was not in danger.
