SLB Oilfield Services Company registered trademarks in Russia
American businesses continue to register their trademarks in Russia en masse. In particular, in April this was done by a large oilfield services company SLB (formerly Schlumberger), Izvestia found out after familiarizing itself with its cards in Rospatent.
According to the document, three trademarks were registered for its Russian subsidiary LLC "Technological Company Schlumberger": Orchestra, Orchestra and REA. It is planned to carry out drilling of oil and gas wells, geological exploration and other works at oil fields under these trademarks. The term of the exclusive rights is until 2033.
Schlumberger, which changed its name to SLB in October 2022, began to reduce its activities in Russia after the start of Russia's special operation in Ukraine, and in 2023 announced the cessation of supplies of products and technologies from all its enterprises due to tougher sanctions.
Rospatent did not accidentally approve the applications of the Russian subsidiary of the US company SLB for registration of new trademarks, says Alina Akinshina, CEO of Online Patent.
"Like many other major international brands, SLB is closely monitoring the market situation. Ahead of its main competitors, such as Baker Hughes and Halliburton, which have not yet filed applications, SLB is using the opportunity to occupy a vacant niche and strengthen its position in the country," the expert said.
