Experts have predicted a 1.5-fold increase in turkey production by 2030

Russia is able to increase turkey meat production by 1.5 times, to 650 thousand tons, by 2030. This will increase domestic consumption to 4 kg per person (+41%), export to 50 thousand tons (+81%) and strengthen Europe's position as the leader in the cultivation of this bird. This was reported to Izvestia on April 23 at the Russian Agricultural Bank (RSHB).

The RSHB Center for Industry Expertise (CEE) estimated that by 2030, taking into account the implementation of investment projects by leading market players, Russia will be able to produce 650 thousand tons, completely abandon imports and increase consumption to 4 kg per person per year. According to the bank's analysts, exports will grow to 50 thousand tons. In another five years, consumption may reach 5 kg per person, the CEE predicts.

"Thanks to the joint efforts of business and the government, an entire industry with powerful world-class players was formed in the shortest possible time. As early as 2022, our country took the first place in Europe and the second in the world in terms of production," said Boris Listov, Chairman of the Board of the RSHB.

The largest share in the structure of Russian exports is occupied by China (60%), Congo, Benin — a total of 37 countries. In 2024, Russian turkey meat appeared on the shelves of large Middle Eastern chains and on electronic platforms.

The trade turnover between our countries has increased by 81% in two years, despite the difficulties in relations.

Earlier, on March 12, Dmitry Patrushev, Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation, announced that the government had provided more than 530 billion rubles for financing the agricultural industry and rural development in 2025. He added that since this year, the Russian Ministry of Agriculture has started implementing the national project "Technological food security".
