The insurance system of the Union State, within which it is possible to purchase CTP policies with an extension to the Republic of Belarus, will begin to function in full from April 23, 2025. This was announced on April 22 by the president of the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA) Evgeny Ufimtsev.

He recalled that according to the rules of the insurance system of the Union State, approved by the RSA and the Belarusian Bureau of Transport Insurance, starting from this date, car owners can conclude an insurance contract of the Union State. It is a CTP agreement with an additional extension agreement for the Republic of Belarus, which is not included by default in all CTP policies. Such an extension is concluded solely at the request of the policyholder.

"In cases that occurred on the territory of the Republic of Belarus, the insured amount and the terms of insurance compensation are determined in accordance with its legislation on compulsory insurance. If a car owner from Russia gets into an accident in Belarus, he will need to contact the Belarusian Bureau of Transport Insurance to settle the insured event. The payment costs are then reimbursed by the responsible Russian insurer," said Evgeny Ufimtsev.

Earlier, on April 17, the rules for calculating the cost of CTP for owners of motor vehicles changed. For owners of motorcycles, mopeds, and light ATVs, a new gradation of power coefficients is applied, as well as separate values for the age and seniority coefficients.
