Former Prime Minister of Dagestan Hamidov was sentenced to 13 years in prison.

The Izmailovsky District Court of Moscow has sentenced former Dagestan Prime Minister Abdusamad Gamidov to 13 years in a high-security penal colony. This was announced on April 2 by a correspondent of Izvestia from the courtroom.

Hamidov was found guilty of abuse of office, accepting bribes and illegal possession of weapons. Two episodes were not punished due to the expiration of the statute of limitations. In addition, the court banned the former prime minister from holding public office for 2 years and imposed a fine of 12 million rubles.

The court also sentenced the former head of the Directorate of the unified state customer, developer Shamil Kadiev, who is charged with bribery and embezzlement. He received 15 years in a general regime penal colony, 2.5 years of a ban on public service and a fine of 16 million rubles.

In addition, Kagir Magomedov, an ex-employee of the financial department of the Buinak district administration, was found guilty of embezzlement, but released from punishment due to the statute of limitations.

In February 2018, a special group of 38 prosecutors from the Prosecutor General's Office conducted an inspection in Dagestan. According to its results, more than 70 criminal cases have been initiated. Among the detainees are the acting Prime Minister of Dagestan, Abdusamad Hamidov, his deputies and a number of other officials.

At the end of October 2019, Hamidov was sentenced to 6.5 years in a general regime penal colony in a case of embezzlement of more than 40 million rubles. The court also issued a verdict against another person involved in the case — Rayudin Yusufov, Gamidov's former deputy, was sentenced to 5.5 years in a penal colony. Both were found guilty of embezzlement of other people's property on an especially large scale as part of an organized group (Part 4 of Article 160 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation) and collected from them a total of more than 41 million rubles in compensation for the damage caused.
