Russia and the United States at the talks on Ukraine, among other things, will touch upon issues related to the verification of the ceasefire, the peacekeeping contingent and the ownership of territories. Michael Waltz, assistant to the American president for National Security, said this on CBS on March 23, speaking about Washington's expectations from the dialogue.

He also noted that the parties will touch upon the ceasefire in the Black Sea so that both sides can transport grain, fuel and resume trade in the region.

"We will talk about the line of control, which is actually the line of combat contact. It also touches on details regarding the [ceasefire] verification mechanisms. Of course, we will also discuss a permanent, more lasting peace, which will include a discussion of territories," the US presidential aide said.

Earlier in the day, Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Konstantin Kosachev, in an interview with Izvestia, said that effective negotiations between the Russian Federation and the United States would ensure sustainable peace, and not just a truce or a cease-fire, which the Ukrainian side is now insisting on.

Negotiations between the Russian and US delegations will take place on March 24 in Riyadh. They will discuss the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and the implementation of the Black Sea initiative. The Russian delegation will be led by Grigory Karasin, Chairman of the Federation Council Committee on International Affairs, and Sergey Beseda, Adviser to the head of the Federal Security Service (FSB).
