The European Commission has presented a strategy for the militarization of the EU
The European Commission (EC) has presented the strategy for the militarization of the European Union (EU) until 2030, the White Paper on Defense, which includes a long—term plan for arming Ukraine. On March 19, the EC said in a statement.
This defense package will provide EU countries with financial instruments to significantly increase investments in weapons production and military capabilities.
In addition, the White Paper provides for support for Kiev through increased military assistance and closer cooperation between the European and Ukrainian military industries.
"These measures are aimed at solving the short—term urgent task of supporting Ukraine, as well as solving the urgent long-term task of strengthening the security and defense of Europe," the publication says.
European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said on March 18 that Europe should have strong defenses by 2030, which requires rearmament and the development of capabilities for reliable deterrence. In particular, investments in the production of air and missile defense systems, as well as all modern types of drones and anti-drone systems, should be increased for this purpose.
