A magnitude 5.5 earthquake was recorded off the coast of Indonesia. This was announced on March 18 by the European-Mediterranean Seismological Center (EMSC).

The source of the tremors was at a depth of 52 km. According to reports, the epicenter of the earthquake was located 102 km from the city of Pematangsiantar, which has a population of 209 thousand people.

No injuries, deaths, or damage were reported.

Earlier, on March 15, an earthquake of magnitude 5.6 occurred in Mexico. According to experts, the epicenter of the seismic event was located 80 km from Oaxaca. The source was located at a depth of 64 km. There were no reports of damage or casualties.
