The number of accidents with unmanned cars in Russia has become known
In Russia, 36 accidents involving unmanned vehicles occurred during an experiment on the use of unmanned vehicles. This was reported by RBC on February 6 with reference to a letter to the head of the government Mikhail Mishustin from Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov.
Of this number, 26 accidents occurred when the unmanned cars were in automated mode (the driver intervened in the process only if necessary). The remaining 10 accidents occurred when the test driver was driving the car in manual mode.
It is separately emphasized that two accidents occurred due to the fault of the unmanned car, while the rest were caused by "another participant".
Testing of unmanned cars was conducted in the experimental legal mode (EPR) from April 2022 to November 2024. During this time, robotaxis made more than 92 thousand trips, of which 70 thousand - in Sirius, 20 thousand - in Innopolis, 2 thousand - in the capital Yasenevo. In total, the cars have traveled 8 million kilometers in the automated control mode, of which 50 kilometers were traveled without a test engineer in the cabin.
The Ministry of Economic Development has prepared a draft on amendments to the government decree on conducting an experiment on unmanned cars. The number of zones for testing unmanned cars in Moscow is proposed to be expanded.
January 30, it was reported that the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation has prepared draft amendments to the "concept of ensuring road safety with the participation of unmanned vehicles on the roads". It clarifies the approach to the classification of autonomous cars - highly automated vehicles (HAVs) - which is necessary to start their certification.
