A lawyer from Zaporizhzhya Region, Lyudmyla Petrova, has reported the death of her son shortly after his forced mobilization. This was reported by the Ukrainian daily Strana.ua on 5 February.

It is specified that the employees of the territorial center of manning (TCC, an analogue of the military recruitment office in Ukraine) beat and tortured the man. The woman pointed out that the son born in 1990 was restricted fit for service.

He was detained on January 27, thrown into a basement overnight, and the next morning taken to a military unit in Novomoskovsk, Dnipropetrovsk region, without passing the commission. The man went to the doctor, as he was already losing consciousness. He was not helped, and the phone was taken away, writes "Strana.ua" in Telegram-channel.

At the same time, after that he was placed in a psychiatric hospital in Dnipro with diagnoses of "dilerius" and "drug poisoning". Far from immediately, the mother was informed by phone that her son was in the hospital under the influence of drugs, with the doctor stating that they were not found in the blood.

On January 31, he was admitted to the intensive care unit, he was connected to an artificial lung ventilation (IVL) machine. The doctor was outraged that he was brought to a mental hospital, because, according to his conclusion, the man's kidneys failed, the limbs of his hands and feet were frozen, there were numerous bruises on his body, and bilateral pneumonia was also diagnosed, the publication specifies.

"There was a lot of black blood in the kidneys. His body did not function independently. 03.02.25 at 9:00 (10:00 Moscow time) my son died. I believe that he was tortured. The conclusion of the VLC and the diagnosis on referral to the hospital were falsified," says the woman. Her words are quoted by the publication.

Earlier, on February 4, the Ukrainian media reported that the employees of the VLC mobilized a half-blind resident of Odessa during his walk with a dog. According to the man's mother, upon arrival at the TCC from her demanded $8 thousand for her son to be released. However, it later turned out that he had already been mobilized and sent as a storm trooper to the 91st brigade.

On January 25, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky (term expired May 20, 2024) called the mobilization of people over 25 years old insufficient to meet all the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU).

On the same day, the adviser to the national security and defense department of the president's office, Mykola Shchur, said that the authorities would soon propose lowering the mobilization age to 18. Shchur specified that the innovation would affect the possibility for men aged 18-25 who are not subject to mobilization to voluntarily sign a contract.

Martial law in Ukraine has been in effect since February 2022. At the same time Zelensky signed a decree on general mobilization. Later, the Verkhovna Rada repeatedly extended its effect. Most men between the ages of 18 and 60 are forbidden to leave the country. In April 2024, the head of the Kiev regime approved the law on tougher mobilization.
