About 700 thousand people visited the "Winter in Moscow" skating rinks during the New Year vacations

Within the framework of the project "Winter in Moscow" during the New Year vacations about 700 thousand people visited skating rinks. This was reported on January 15 on the website of the mayor of the capital.

The main ice areas were VDNKh, "Luzhniki" and Gorky Park. This year skating rinks were opened for the first time near the Court of Pioneers on Sparrow Hills and on Bolotnaya Square. According to Alexei Fursin, head of the Moscow Department of Culture, visitors not only enjoyed skating, but also took part in contests, master classes and theatrical performances.

In addition, on New Year's Eve, the skating rinks hosted various festive events. For guests of Bauman Gardens, Hermitage, Babushkinsky Park, as well as Angarskiye Ponds, Khodynskoye Pole and 50th Anniversary of October Parks a special screening of Pyotr Tchaikovsky's The Nutcracker directed by Yuri Grigorovich was organized.

In turn, in Gorky Park there was a concert of Larisa Dolina's Musical Academy and an ice show "The Nutcracker: Ilya Averbukh's Ice Tale".

Until mid-February, residents and guests of the capital will be able to enjoy performances at several venues of famous figure skaters, including Olympic champions Anna Shcherbakova, Alina Zagitova, Adelina Sotnikova and others.

Earlier, December 26, 2024, it was reported that at the end of December in the Moscow region opened 27 large skating rinks with artificial ice. Sports facilities appeared in parks and public areas. According to the Minister of improvement of the region Mikhail Khaikin, in total, there are more than 180 skating rinks in the Moscow region.
