A doctor has named the causes of diabetes
Type 2 diabetes mellitus is a chronic endocrine disease in which there are profound disorders of lipid, protein and carbohydrate metabolism due to a deficiency of the hormone produced by the pancreas. The disease is considered chronic and severe, significantly worsens the quality of life, Olga Shuppo, founder and scientific director of the network of clinics of immunorehabilitation, adaptive and preventive medicine Grand Clinic, told "Izvestia" on January 11. She named the reasons for the development of the disease, and also noted the habits that will help to avoid it.
"Type 2 diabetes mellitus, unlike type 1 diabetes, is an acquired disease. Diabetes manifests itself in adulthood due to genetic predisposition and improper lifestyle. It happens that a person who has a risk of developing diabetes, it appears, even if the lifestyle or diet is slightly disturbed," - said the expert.
According to her, a proper lifestyle is the best prevention of many chronic diseases, and type 2 diabetes is no exception. A sedentary lifestyle leads to the fact that mitochondria, the only source of energy of cells, the "batteries" of the body, which produce, store and distribute the necessary energy for cells, begin to work sluggishly. As a result, metabolism, including carbohydrate metabolism, is disrupted, and a breakdown occurs in the body, which leads to diabetes, since energy is necessary for all physiological, biological and hormonal processes in the body.
"Add sports or outdoor activities to your list of must-do tasks for the day. Even moderate regular outdoor exercise will promote the necessary oxygenation of cells, increasing mitochondrial vitality," advised Shuppo.
Abuse of simple carbohydrates is another pathway to type 2 diabetes, because carbohydrates raise blood sugar, she added. If you have type 2 diabetes, you will have to eliminate simple or easily digestible carbohydrates - these include sugar, honey, candy, baked goods and even sweet fruits and berries.
"Constant snacking can also increase insulin and blood glucose levels. When a person constantly snacks during the day, the work of the pancreas is disturbed, it begins to constantly produce insulin, and it is kept in the blood at a high level. Insulin resistance appears, which provokes the risk of developing type 2 diabetes. Insulin resistance is also the basis for the development of chronic inflammation in the body. It is better to stick to the intervals between meals. Approximately they should be about four hours, and on average four to six hours, "- said the doctor.
In addition, stress is another factor that seriously increases the risks of insulin resistance and the development of type 2 diabetes. When stress produces more glucose, the pancreas begins to inhibit the production of insulin. As a result, blood glucose levels rise, which can subsequently lead to the development of diabetes mellitus.
Earlier, on November 14, doctors of the medical company "SberZdorovye" endocrinologist Daria Pronina and surgeon Sergei Khripkov told "Izvestia" that one of the complications of diabetes - diabetic foot syndrome, which occurs in 15-25% of people with this disease. It occurs due to damage to nerves and blood vessels.
