Moscow announced the winners of the Challenge Award, which recognizes high-tech developments that can change people's lives in the next decade. This year's contest received 594 applications, and an international category was added to the list of nominations.

The press conference was held in the Tretyakov Gallery. The scientific committee honored the works in the field of creation of high-energy materials, compact neutron source, efficient batteries, functional MRI and optical tissue enlightenment. The winner in each nomination will receive 11 million rubles.

"There is now a great demand in the world for an impartial, independent and politically unbiased award. We want to take our award to a new level. We have introduced an international Discovery nomination, which can be awarded to scientists from any country in the world. The decision is made regardless of political views and the country of residence of the researcher," said Leonid Shlyakhover, President of the Foundation for Development of Scientific and Cultural Relations "Vyzov".

According to him, 112 out of 594 applications were international, from 33 countries, including India, China, the United States, France, Germany and dozens of other states. Shlyakhover emphasized that this shows the credibility of the Challenge.
