On Saturday, September 21, a passenger of the ferry "Sakhalin-8", which was en route from Kholmsk, Sakhalin Region, to Vanino, Khabarovsk Territory, tried to take selfies and fell overboard. This was reported on September 23 in the press service of the transport department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation in the Far Eastern Federal District.

"Admiring the beauty of the sea, he (the passenger. - Ed.) decided to make unforgettable photos as a memento, while taking photos accidentally did not keep his balance and fell overboard from the upper deck of the starboard side of the ferry," - stated in the message on the site.

It is specified that a crew member immediately sounded the alarm and threw a lifeline to the fallen passenger. The rescue of a 24-year-old man took about 30 minutes.

The press service reports that the young man was rescued with signs of hypothermia.

The transport police reminded that passengers are fully responsible for their decisions and actions during the ship.

Earlier, on July 15, the head of the Moscow city branch of the All-Russian Student Rescue Corps Maxim Dzhetigenov told about the safety rules to be observed during recreation on the water. He noted that it is important to choose specially equipped places for swimming and urged to be careful in hot weather because of the sun and ultraviolet rays.
