Ascension Day is considered one of the most important church holidays. It is celebrated on the 40th day after Easter in memory of the last day of the earthly life of Jesus Christ.

According to the Bible, after his resurrection, Jesus was present on earth for another 40 days. On the last day, he led his disciples to the slope of the Mount of Olives near Jerusalem, where he told the apostles not to leave him until they received the holy gift and ascended to heaven.
