The average CTP payment increased by 10 in nine months.%
According to the results of January-September 2026, the average CTP payment in Russia increased by 10.4% compared to the same period last year and reached 127.6 thousand rubles. The average premium under annual contracts increased by 7.7%, to 7830 rubles. This was announced on November 3 by the Russian Union of Motor Insurers (RSA).
For comparison, for the first nine months of 2025, the average payout was 115.5 thousand rubles, and the cost of the annual policy was 7273 rubles. In September 2026, the average payout reached 142.4 thousand rubles, and the average premium was 8,363 rubles. The RSA attributed the increase in indicators to changes in the unified methodology of the Bank of Russia for determining the cost of renovation. The new rules came into force in July, and in September the union additionally updated the directories of the cost of spare parts and standard hours of work.
According to RSA President Evgeny Ufimtsev, insurance companies have adjusted their tariff policies in advance in order to maintain financial stability and ensure payments to victims. At the same time, the union noted an increase in the unprofitability of compulsory car insurance. By the end of nine months, the level of payments, including business expenses, reached 91%, and in some regions the figure exceeded 100%.
The head of the RSA said that most motorists should not feel a significant change in the cost of policies, since the individualization of tariffs and competition between insurers should restrain prices for drivers with a low accident rate and a good insurance history.
The total amount of CTP payments for the three quarters amounted to 200.2 billion rubles. It includes payments from insurance companies, court costs, and funds transferred from the RSA compensation fund. The volume of premiums collected during the same period reached 260.8 billion rubles. Insurers concluded 53.1 million contracts, of which 20.4 million were for short-term policies. The average cost of such an agreement in January-September was 217 rubles.
Another indicator that the union drew attention to was the share of contracts transferred to the reinsurance pool. In nine months, it was 10.4%, having increased from 7.4% in January to 13.1% in September. According to RSA, the expansion of the tariff corridor can help reduce the number of contracts going into the pool.
Earlier, on October 29, it was reported that the Bank of Russia proposed to consider the possibility of selling CTP policies through Gosuslugi or the website of the All-Russian Union of Insurers (VSS). These measures should increase the availability of compulsory car insurance in regions where car owners face difficulties in obtaining policies.
