A resident of the Chelyabinsk region was sentenced to 14 years in prison for treason

The Central District Military Court sentenced a resident of the Chelyabinsk region to 14 years in prison for collecting intelligence information in the interests of the Ukrainian side. This was announced on October 29 by the press service of the regional directorate of the FSB of Russia.

"A resident of the Chelyabinsk region, born in 1979, was found guilty under Article 275 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation ("High Treason")," the report says, the text of the document is quoted by TASS.

According to law enforcement officials, in December 2025, the man established contact with a representative of the Ukrainian paramilitary group, whose activities are prohibited in Russia. Subsequently, he began to carry out the instructions of his supervisor, collecting information.

The illegal activities of the defendant were revealed by employees of the regional department of the FSB. The collected materials formed the basis of a criminal case on high treason, which resulted in a guilty verdict.

The defendant was sentenced to 14 years in prison with serving the first four years in prison, and the rest in a high—security colony.

The man received seven years in prison for inciting ethnic hatred.

Two days earlier, the Pacific Fleet Military Court sentenced a 61-year-old resident of Ussuriysk to 23 years in prison in a case of high treason and public calls for terrorist activities. According to the prosecutor's office, from March to July 2023, the convict organized the purchase and supply of an off-road vehicle for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
