On October 23, the Russian Embassy in Italy called on Russian citizens not to visit places of mass riots and comply with the demands of the authorities amid discussions about Russia's alleged involvement in the events.

"We recommend that our compatriots avoid places of unrest and respect the demands of the authorities, and treat the sensations about the ubiquitous "Russian agents" with humor," the Telegram channel said in a statement.

The diplomatic mission pointed out that Moscow in Italy is increasingly being blamed for various internal problems. They are also trying to hold Russia responsible for the discontent of young people, rising prices, street riots and disruptions in transport.

At the same time, the embassy stressed the inadmissibility of violence and pogroms, and also drew attention to contradictions in the statements of the Italian authorities regarding possible foreign interference in what is happening. The Russian mission recalled that the presence of Russian citizenship in itself cannot serve as proof of a person's involvement in the riots.

Since October 18, Italy has been gripped by a wave of street protests, accompanied by clashes with the police. In addition to Milan, law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation into incidents in Turin, Brescia and Bologna. Preliminary damage from riots across the country is estimated at 1.1–1.6 million euros.

A resident of Milan on October 20, in an interview with Izvestia, noted that mass protests in the city, accompanied by clashes with police and damage to urban infrastructure, make no sense, since the Italian authorities are not responsible for price increases. At the same time, the storefronts of retail outlets and the post office building were damaged as a result of the riots.
