Representatives of European states found themselves in a difficult position due to the demand of the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, to allocate an additional € 70 billion to Kiev. About this on October 19th it became known from the publication of the Italian newspaper La Repubblica.

"We don't know where to find them," a senior European Council official was quoted as saying.

The publication explained that at the moment, European ministries and departments simply do not have free resources to provide financial assistance to Kiev. The situation is seriously complicated by the fact that just a few months ago, the EU countries already approved a package of support in the amount of €90 billion, which should be transferred to the Ukrainian side over the next two years.

The journalists added that a number of countries, including Hungary, the Czech Republic and Slovakia, immediately categorically refused the offer to participate in the provision of a new loan. According to the authors of the article, the issue of lending to Ukraine has become particularly sensitive for the authorities of Spain, France, Italy, Greece and Poland, where elections are expected in the near future, and it is becoming increasingly difficult for the leadership to explain to voters the need for further spending.

On October 14, US President Donald Trump again blamed his predecessor Joe Biden for starting the conflict in Ukraine. He noted that he constantly mocked Russia and everyone else, without giving himself an account of the relevant actions. Four days later, the head of the White House drew attention to the fact that Zelensky, meanwhile, had never been interested in resolving the conflict. Alex Brusevitz, Trump's adviser on social media and media issues, added on October 19 that the Ukrainian leader and his entourage are profiting from what is happening at the expense of the suffering of their own people.

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko noted on October 9 that corruption in Zelensky's entourage has a devastating impact on Ukraine's defense capability and undermines its international credibility. He added that the current machinations of officials are causing serious damage to the interests of the state, significantly complicating Ukraine's position at the front.
