Public transport should become completely free for schoolchildren throughout the country. This was announced on October 12 by Sergei Mironov, chairman of the Fair Russia party.

"We propose to establish free travel for all students. It is crucial to make travel free throughout the country. Let's say a schoolboy went with his parents to visit relatives in another region, and there he also has to travel by public transport absolutely free of charge," he said in an interview with TASS.

Mironov recalled that at the moment travel privileges are set by the regions, so they have their own in each region and do not apply outside the "home" region.

He also called for the establishment of transparent and public tariffs for public transport with a clear justification for price increases strictly within the limits of inflation. According to the parliamentarian, people should understand what they are paying for, and children, pensioners and socially vulnerable citizens should travel for free. In addition, for students of universities and colleges, Fair Russia proposes to introduce a transport card with a 50% discount on urban and suburban transport, which should also be valid throughout the country.
