An earthquake of magnitude 4.9 was recorded in the Kemerovo Region. This was reported on October 10 on the website of the Federal Research Center "Unified Geophysical Service of the Russian Academy of Sciences".
According to experts, a seismic event occurred in the Prokopyevsky municipal district.
A local resident told Izvestia that she felt strong tremors and tried to hide in the doorway of the load-bearing wall.
"I realized that the impact was very strong. I stood up, as it were, in the opening of the load—bearing wall in the apartment and realized that I was rocking along with the walls, and it was rocking so well," she shared.
According to the woman, during the earthquake, the closet doors opened and closed on their own, and there was a rumble in the apartment. At the same time, the chairs remained in their places and did not move across the floor.
On October 7, an earthquake of magnitude 5.2 occurred in the waters of the Avacha Bay, 79 km from the coast of Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky. The source was located at a depth of 56.8 km. The coordinates of the epicenter are 52.8656 north latitude and 159.7360 east longitude.
