Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder arrives in Moscow

Former German Chancellor Gerhard Schroeder has arrived in Moscow on a working visit and is holding a meeting with the management and employees of the Globus retail chain. This was announced on October 7 by the retailer's press service.

"I confirm. A working visit is a meeting with the management and staff of Globus," RIA Novosti reports.

As noted by the newspaper Kommersant, market participants consider the involvement of Schroeder as an attempt to insure assets against possible transfer to temporary management, by analogy with the cases of Auchan and Leman Pro companies.

Schroeder has many years of experience in the Russian corporate sector.. His close ties with Russian energy companies have led to political pressure in Germany. In 2022, the Bundestag Budget Committee stripped Schroeder of some government privileges, including office and staff maintenance.
