The Iranian authorities have decided to increase the range of their missiles amid the ongoing conflict with the United States. This was announced on October 4 by the official representative of the Iranian army, Mohammad Akraminia.

"During this war, we came to the conclusion that we definitely need to increase the range of our missiles, and we have already moved in this direction," the Fars news agency quoted Akraminia as saying on the Telegram channel.

Currently, Tehran has an arsenal of medium-range missiles. During the conflict with the United States, which began on February 28, the Iranian side mainly used projectiles capable of hitting targets at a distance of up to 2,000 km.

At the same time, in March, there were reports of an Iranian attack on a British military base located on Diego Garcia Island in the Indian Ocean. The distance from Tehran to this facility exceeds 5,000 km. Official Iran did not confirm the information about the strike at the time.

Tehran's missile program is developing in the context of an escalating regional situation. The day before, the media reported that pressure on Iran is increasing against the background of the expansion of the US military presence in the region and the internal economic difficulties of the republic. It was clarified that the Pentagon was sending the aircraft carrier USS Theodore Roosevelt and additional forces to the Middle East.
