Likhachev expressed confidence in extending the operation of the Armenian NPP until 2036

The operation of the Armenian Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) will be extended until 2036. Alexey Likhachev, CEO of "Rosatom" State Corporation, expressed confidence in this on September 29.

"We have already smoothly moved into the second stage of the extension until 2036, which can be partially divided into two stages: until 2031 and from 2031 to 2036. Most of the work related to 2031 has been completed, and we have fully completed the production task the day before, as part of the working group," RIA "Novosti" quotes him as saying.

In addition, Likhachev said that the Armenian leadership is considering extending the operation of the nuclear power plant until 2046. According to the CEO of "Rosatom", there is such an opportunity.

He also noted that in the near future Yerevan plans to make a decision on the technical appearance and a partner in a possible project to create a new nuclear power plant.

"Rosatom" reported on September 29 that the state corporation offered Armenia technologies for the creation of a new nuclear generation, including the construction of large, medium and small power units.
