The head of Volgograd, Marchenko, resigned

The deputies agreed with the early termination of the powers of the head of the city, Vladimir Marchenko, who was elected to the State Duma of the ninth convocation. This was announced on September 25 on the website of the Volgograd City Duma.

"Today, at an extraordinary meeting, deputies of the Volgograd City Duma decided to terminate the powers of the head of the municipality, the head of Volgograd, Vladimir Vasilyevich Marchenko, ahead of schedule. The deputies accepted the voluntary resignation of Vladimir Marchenko in connection with his election to the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation of the ninth convocation," the text says.

Marchenko stated that he expects to maintain continuity in the work of the city team and continue the projects he has started. According to him, during his time as mayor, a number of initiatives have been implemented aimed at improving the quality of the urban environment and the development of Volgograd.

"Over the past five years, we have come a long way from planning to implementing large projects that affect the quality of life of our city's residents. The last elections of deputies of the State Duma once again showed the support of the chosen course by the residents of Volgograd. Volgogradians voted for the further development of the city as the center of agglomeration of the entire Volgograd region," he is quoted as saying in the article.

Vladlen Kolesnikov, Chairman of the Volgograd City Duma, noted that in recent years the municipal authorities have formed basic documents for the further development of the city. Among them are the comprehensive program for the development of Volgograd, the master plan, the rules of land use and development, as well as the updated charter of the hero city.
