The State Duma proposed to introduce basic payments for children for all families

In Russia, it was proposed to change the system of assigning child benefits and introduce a basic payment for all families with a child. On September 22, Tatyana Butskaya, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Family Protection, Fatherhood, Motherhood and Childhood, made such an initiative by sending a letter to Anton Kotyakov, Minister of Labor.

"We propose to consider the possibility of introducing a basic payment per child, provided to all families with children, regardless of income level or with a minimum set of clear and transparent criteria," says the appeal, which is available to TASS.

Butskaya said that the current system may lead to a loss of support after the parents' income increases. She also noted that official earnings do not always reflect the real expenses of the family, which may include housing, medical treatment, education and the maintenance of several children.

The deputy proposed to estimate the costs of the need check and compare them with budget savings from refusals to assign payments. In her opinion, part of the funds could be directed directly to support families.

In 33 regions of Russia, young families can receive a one-time payment of 300 thousand rubles or more at the birth of a third or subsequent child. It was noted that such a support measure is provided to families where the parents or the only parent are under 36 years old at the time of the child's birth and are registered in the relevant region. The payment is additional to the regional maternity capital and other benefits.
