Blogger Nekoglai was detained on suspicion of drug trafficking. What is known

Blogger Nikolai Lebedev, known under the pseudonym Nekoglai, was detained along with his wife on suspicion of drug trafficking on an especially large scale. According to the Moldovan publication PulsMedia, searches took place on September 16 at the blogger's house in the Stavceni commune near Chisinau. After an initial 72-hour detention, the court placed the couple under arrest for 30 days.

The investigation suspects Nekoglaya not only of distributing prohibited substances, but also of organizing a place for their use at home. It is reported that among the visitors there could be teenage subscribers of the blogger. Lebedev himself has repeatedly found himself in the center of high-profile stories over the past few years: he was expelled from Russia, then put on the wanted list there, after that he went to Ukraine and faced a wave of criticism there, and after returning to Moldova, local media wrote about new scandals. Why was Nekoglaya detained in Moldova

PulsMedia reported that the criminal case is being investigated under Part 4 of Article 217 of the Criminal Code of Moldova ("Illegal trafficking of drugs or their analogues for the purpose of selling on an especially large scale").

According to the newspaper's sources, on September 16, police officers raided the blogger's house. Allegedly, two packages with substances of presumably narcotic origin, shredding devices, electronic scales and objects that the investigation may consider as intended for the preparation, packaging and further distribution of drugs were found there.

In addition, PulsMedia sources claim that a place for drug use was organized in the house, where teenagers who followed Non-Gay people on TikTok could come. During the arrest, Lebedev resisted and attacked the police, while his wife tried to escape, but was soon detained.

First, the couple was detained for 72 hours, and then the court issued a warrant for their arrest for 30 days. They are currently in the Chisinau penitentiary No. 13. If found guilty under this article, they could face from seven to 15 years in prison.

Why was Nekoglaya deported from Russia

One of the most famous stories with Nekogly occurred in November 2022. A blogger posted on TikTok a parody of a widely circulated video of a Russian soldier who, while in a trench, threw grenades dropped from a drone. The head of the Safe Internet League, Ekaterina Mizulina, then stated that she intended to appeal to the Prosecutor General's Office and the Interior Ministry with a request to check the video for signs of discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.

Nekoglai was detained in Moscow on November 9, 2022. Lebedev left Russia on November 24. Bailiffs escorted him to the checkpoint and handed him over to the border guards. The blogger first flew from Moscow to Armenia, as there was no direct flight connection to Moldova at that time, and then he got to Chisinau.

Why was Nekoglaya put on the wanted list in Russia

The blogger's problems in Russia did not end with the deportation story. In February 2023, the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation put Nikolai Lebedev on the wanted list under a criminal article.

Ekaterina Mizulina then stated that a criminal libel case had been opened against the blogger. The reason, she said, was Nekoglai's statements about her and the work of the Safe Internet League after his deportation.

How did Nekogly end up in Ukraine

After returning to Moldova, Nekoglai's position changed dramatically. In early 2023, he announced his intention to send about $100,000 to help the Ukrainian army. In March, the blogger arrived in Kiev and handed over five drones and a car to the Ukrainian military.

In an interview with journalist Dmitry Gordon (included in the list of terrorists and extremists in the territory of the Russian Federation, recognized as a foreign agent) Lebedev said that initially, during the stream, he collected about 10 thousand euros, and he was going to add the rest of the planned amount himself. He also said that he intends to continue helping Ukraine.

However, the blogger soon found himself at the center of a scandal in Ukraine itself. He posted a video of himself dancing in a military uniform of the Ukrainian intelligence service. The video provoked a sharp reaction from some Ukrainian users: in the comments, he was accused of disrespecting the military, and some called for the blogger to be expelled from the country.

What scandals did Nekoglai get into in Moldova

After returning to Moldova, the blogger repeatedly became a participant in public scandals due to videos of traffic violations posted on social networks. Shortly after his deportation, Lebedev announced that he wanted to enter politics in Moldova. In December 2022, he talked about his intention to meet with President Maia Sandu and create a public commission that would deal with the rights of people in places of forced detention.

In 2024, the blogger entered into a public conflict with Moldovan ticktocker Vasile Josan and offered to resolve the dispute with a boxing match. In November, they actually entered the ring as part of the FEA tournament, where Josan was declared the winner.

In addition, Nekoglai has been regularly advertising online casinos and gambling-related streams on his own Telegram channel. In his publications, the blogger posted affiliate links and promo codes, as well as reported deposits of several thousand dollars.

What was Nekoglaya accused of even before his deportation

Scandals accompanied the blogger's career even before his problems with the Russian authorities. At the beginning of 2022, Nekoglai set several Russian-language Twitch records for the number of simultaneous viewers.

After that, blogger Roman Mokrivsky published an analysis in which he claimed that part of the audience was not Stupid and had been manipulated by bots. Later, the blogger's producer, Alexander Chernovsky, publicly confirmed that cheating on broadcasts was indeed used, including at the initiative of Lebedev himself.

Nekoglay himself then rejected the claim that his huge audience consisted only of bots, but his former team did not deny the existence of fraud.

How Nekoglai got into a fatal accident

Another high-profile episode occurred in Moscow in May 2022. A Porsche Panamera driven by Necoglai collided with a carsharing car near the Belorussky railway station.

According to the traffic police, the carsharing driver ran into a traffic light and crashed into the blogger's Porsche. The driver of the other car was killed, several people were hospitalized, and Necoglai suffered a concussion. There is no evidence that Lebedev was the culprit of this accident.

What happened to Nekoglaya's mom

Nekoglai himself said that he was orphaned very early. According to Lebedev, his mother died when he was nine years old. He cited stage four stomach cancer as the cause. The woman was 42 years old. Nekoglai said that in childhood he did not realize the severity of her illness and hoped until the last moment that her mother would recover.

A year later, the blogger's father also died. Nekoglay said that the death was related to the disease, but he did not want to talk in detail about his death.
