Imports of used cars from South Korea to Russia decreased by 63%

In January-August 2026, 23 thousand passenger cars with mileage older than three years were imported directly from South Korea to Russia. This is 63% less than in the same period last year, when the volume of deliveries amounted to 61.6 thousand vehicles. Sergey Tselikov, director of the "Autostat" analytical agency, told about this in his Telegram channel on September 21.

The top five most popular models are Kia K3 (2,318 units), Kia K5 (1,884 units), Hyundai Avante (1,515 units), Hyundai Sonata (1,447 units) and Chevrolet Trailblazer (1,330 units). According to the expert, the share of cars with a capacity of over 160 hp in the import structure of South Korea for the year It decreased to 12%, whereas a year earlier, such versions accounted for about 84% of Korean used car imports.

The specialist attributes the drop in supplies to changes in import conditions, in particular, the introduction of an increased recycling fee for high-power vehicles. Against this background, some suppliers have shifted to the Chinese market, where the supply of cars with lower power is much wider.
