Kenyan runner Agnes Ngetic sets world record in half marathon

Kenyan athlete Agnes Ngetic has set a new world record in the women's half marathon. The historic result was recorded on September 20 at the Road running Championships in Copenhagen.

The runner covered the distance of 21.1 km in 1 hour, 5 minutes and 15 seconds. Ngetic managed to improve the previous world record by just one second. Previously, the record belonged to her compatriot Perez Jepchirchir, who set it in July 2021.

Agnes Ngetic is 21 years old. The athlete already holds the title of the 2026 world champion in cross country. The Danish achievement was another important milestone in her professional career.

Ethiopian track and field athlete Yomif Kejelcha set a new world record in the half marathon on August 23. The athlete showed the best result in history at the end of the race in Buenos Aires. Kejelcha covered the distance of 21.1 km in 56 minutes and 51 seconds.
