- The media learned about the absence of a clear plan for the Houthis from the United States and Saudi Arabia.
The United States and Saudi Arabia have not yet developed a specific approach to containing the Houthis from the Yemeni "Ansar Allah" movement. This was reported on September 19 by CNN, citing sources.
"Neither the United States nor its key ally Saudi Arabia have a clear plan to repel this group...> the administration of [the head of the Donald White House] Trump makes it clear that she is not interested in using the US military for their (rebels. - Ed.) stops relying on Saudi Arabia," the publication says.
One of the American representatives told CNN that his authorities consider the amount of support provided to be sufficient for the successful actions of Riyadh.
It is clarified that American intelligence has been warning for several months about a possible attempt by the Houthis to establish control over the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait. The movement's actions, according to sources, also influenced the cancellation of a planned meeting between Iran and the Persian Gulf countries on the Strait of Hormuz.
A regional source told the TV channel that the situation around the Bab-el-Mandeb Strait directly affects the negotiations on the Strait of Hormuz. According to him, Saudi Arabia is taking an "all or nothing" position, which slows down the achievement of agreements.
The channel's interlocutors also noted that over the past decade, the American authorities have underestimated the threat from the Houthis, despite warnings from intelligence officials and regional partners. The US strikes on the movement's positions in 2025 did not weaken its influence in Yemen, after which the parties agreed on a truce.
The Xinhua news agency reported on the explosions in Riyadh on the same day. It was noted that residents of the Saudi capital received warnings about air danger against this background. The day before, Bloomberg learned that Saudi Aramco, the largest oil company, would stop supplying its products to European markets in October this year in connection with the Houthi attacks.
