A road bridge has been opened on the border of Russia and the DPRK

The automobile bridge over the Tumannaya River on the border with the DPRK and Russia was opened to traffic on September 7. The ceremony was attended by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin and Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the DPRK Park Tae Song via video link.

Mishustin noted that the construction of the facility began in the spring of 2025, and the project was completed in about 16 months.

"Relations between Russia and the DPRK are at an unprecedented high level of comprehensive strategic partnership today. Our states are actively cooperating in almost all areas," RIA Novosti quoted him as saying.

According to the Russian Prime Minister, the expansion of the cross-border transport infrastructure will create additional opportunities for the development of trade, economic, scientific, technological and cultural cooperation between Russia and the DPRK.

The Orel region and South Hwanghae can develop agriculture together, while in Kursk they want to rename streets in honor of Korean fighters.

In April, Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova called the bridge on the border between Russia and the DPRK a symbol of friendship. She noted that Moscow "pays special attention" to the bridge project, and called it an important stage for Russian-Korean relations. According to her, the transport corridor will create the basis for bilateral cooperation and rapprochement of peoples.
