U.S. negotiators Steven Witkoff and Jared Kushner held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in the Kremlin on September 5. The meeting lasted three hours and 10 minutes. Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov said that the American representatives had carefully prepared for the trip and formulated a number of considerations on possible ways to resolve the Ukrainian conflict.

He also noted that the American side took into account Putin's remark about the actions of the Kiev regime and its attitude to its own past. In the evening, Witkoff and Kushner's motorcade left the Kremlin.
