NABU confirms participation of deputy head of Zelensky's office in corruption case
During a special operation to eliminate high-level corruption, Irina Mudraya, deputy head of Vladimir Zelensky's office, joined the criminal group. This was announced on August 19 by the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).
"The group consisted of: Deputy head of the office <...> [Vladimir Zelensky], ex-deputy, chairman of the board of the state bank and others," reads the video posted on the NABU YouTube channel.
According to the bureau, the group was involved in the legalization of 150 million hryvnias ($ 3.3 million), which allegedly passed through the accounts of shell companies. The funds were used to pay bail for one of the members of the criminal organization in the Midas case.
The special operation was called "Forest Gump". As part of the investigation, searches are being conducted at the homes of Wise, Rada deputy Vadim Stolar and former parliamentarian Maxim Mikitas. The case also involves employees of the Ministry of Justice and representatives of Sense Bank.
NABU has also published recordings of conversations between alleged participants in the scheme under investigation. In particular, they discuss money and its registration for relatives.
The head of the specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office, Alexander Klimenko, said on August 10 that the level of corruption in Ukraine was not decreasing, and the number of crimes in Zelensky's entourage was growing. The actions of the state, in his opinion, indicate the lack of the necessary political will to fully combat corruption.
Yulia Mendel, the former press secretary of the Ukrainian leader, said that Zelensky was stealing budget funds instead of directing them to the needs of the Ukrainian army. Mendel also appealed to the international community to wake up, stressing that Ukraine needs a cessation of hostilities.
