MWM called the Khabarovsk submarine ahead of its modern counterparts

The Khabarovsk special-purpose nuclear submarine, which is capable of carrying Poseidon nuclear torpedoes, has outstripped its modern counterparts by decades. This was reported on August 17 by Military Watch Magazine (MWM).

According to the publication, Khabarovsk has unique propulsion systems and special noise reduction systems. The main armament of the submarine is autonomous nuclear-powered Poseidon torpedoes with a range of about 10,000 km.

The Poseidon is a Russian guided super torpedo with a nuclear power plant. In addition to the Khabarovsk submarine, the carrier of this weapon is the Belgorod nuclear submarine.

The projectile is designed to destroy enemy naval bases, ports and aircraft carrier strike groups. In addition, the use of torpedoes leads to radiation contamination of the territory.

The Asia Times newspaper reported on May 14 that the Russian nuclear torpedo Poseidon, which is expected to be deployed aboard Khabarovsk, will be able to completely change the balance of forces in underwater defense. It was noted that the length of the Khabarovsk will be about 135 m.

Mikhail Kovalchuk, President of the Kurchatov Institute Research Center, in turn, said that no country in the world, except Russia, still possesses titanium-hulled submarines.
