Russian Foreign Ministry considers Armenia's plans to interrogate WWII veteran evidence of decomposition

The plans of the Armenian authorities to interrogate 103-year-old participant of the Great Patriotic War Rosalia Abgaryan indicate moral decay due to Yerevan's rapprochement with the European Union (EU) and Kiev. This was announced on August 12 by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova.

Earlier it was reported that the veteran is going to be interrogated as part of a criminal case against a supporter of one of the political parties. We are talking about an alleged violation of the ban on charity during the election campaign.

"It is difficult to find more vivid evidence of the moral and spiritual decay that rapprochement with modern faceless, morally impoverished Europe and fraternization with the neo—Nazi Kiev regime leads to," Zakharova is quoted as saying on the website of the Russian Foreign Ministry.

The representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry noted that they do not consider this incident in isolation from the series of steps taken by Yerevan, which are regarded as a mockery of common memory and history. The Foreign Ministry recalled that officials of the republic had not previously stopped threats from President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky against the Victory Day Parade on Red Square, and also pointed to attempts to glorify the Nazis in the educational environment.

"Now, the Armenian justice, which is switching to "democratic" European standards, has reached R. S. Abgaryan. Such honored people as Rosalia Sergeevna are the pride of all those who understand the true meaning of Victory over the brown plague," Zakharova stressed.

On August 6, Alexey Fadeev, Deputy Director of the Information and Press Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, said that the demonstrative flirtations of the Armenian authorities with the Kiev regime raise great doubts about their readiness for truly allied cooperation with Russia. He also noted that the socio-economic consequences of severing traditional ties with Moscow are being hidden from Armenian citizens, and the current difficulties with exports are being presented as some kind of restriction of Russia.
