Iran has commented on the appearance of a video with Mojtaba Khamenei
The published video with Iran's supreme leader Mojtaba Khamenei was filmed before his appointment to this post. This was reported on August 9 by an Iranian source to Izvestia.
"It's an old video. It was lifted even before he became the [supreme] leader," he said.
According to him, the widespread footage is archival. Earlier it was reported that the supreme leader of Iran will not appear at public events until the end of the military conflict with Israel and the United States. It was noted at the time that he did not go out into the public space solely for security reasons and because of the ongoing state of war.
Earlier in the day, the Iranian state-run Mehr news agency released a video of Mojtaba Khamenei for the first time in five months. The recording shows Khamenei sitting surrounded by several people during a conversation. The agency did not specify the date of the shooting or the location where the video was recorded, nor did it disclose the identities of those present next to the supreme leader.
