Netizens named their options for candidates for the post of President of Hungary

Social media users have proposed unusual candidates for the post of president of Hungary. The list of possible contenders includes the hero of the popular Internet meme "Harold hiding pain" Andras Arato and the inventor of the Rubik's cube Erne Rubik. This is reported by The Guardian.

"Hide the pain of Harold and the creator of the Rubik's Cube among the social media elections for the presidency of Hungary," the publication says.

The initiator of the public discussion was the Hungarian opposition party Tisa, which invited citizens to name their options for candidates for the post of head of state. Among the offers were representatives of show business, athletes, bodybuilders and Victoria's Secret model Barbara Palvin.

According to the results of an anonymous vote conducted among users of social networks, Andras Arato, a former electrical engineer who became famous all over the world thanks to a photo that turned into the meme "Harold, hiding the pain", received the most support.

Also among the popular options were biochemist, Nobel Prize winner in Physiology or Medicine Katalin Kariko and the creator of the famous Rubik's Cube Erne Rubik.

According to The Guardian, the survey results reflect the public's interest in finding alternative candidates, but the voting participants themselves are not official contenders for the presidency of Hungary.

On the same day, the ruling Tisa party of Hungary proposed to the parliament on August 11 to hold elections for a new president of the country. Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar earlier spoke about the fallacy of the decision to offer the post of president of the country to chess player Judith Polgar.

On July 18, Hungarian President Tamas Szuyok signed an amendment to the country's constitution providing for the early termination of his term as head of state. Magyar clarified on national TV channels that Shujok had approved the 17th amendment to the Constitution of the republic.
