The agreement between the United States and Ukraine on the transfer to Kiev of a license for the production of interceptor missiles for Patriot systems will not be concluded until winter. This was stated on August 3 by Matthew Whitaker, Permanent Representative of the United States to NATO, in an interview with Fox Business.

According to him, Washington has nothing to announce yet on the issue of the possible launch of the production of such missiles on the territory of Ukraine.

"A long-term agreement on the production of [Patriot interceptor missiles] will not appear by this winter," Whitaker said, the recording is available on the Fox Business YouTube channel.

On the same day, former commander of NATO forces in Europe, retired Admiral of the United States Navy James Stavridis noted that Ukraine is experiencing a great shortage of shells for Patriot complexes: for one interceptor of the anti-aircraft missile system, the Ukrainian army is faced with 27 ballistic missiles.

In turn, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky rebuked Western partners for not supplying Ukraine with missiles for Patriot systems, although they have a corresponding arsenal in their warehouses.
