Pensions will be recalculated for working pensioners starting from August 1.
Starting from August 1, 2026, pensions of working citizens will be recalculated in Russia and payments will be increased taking into account the length of service and insurance premiums listed by employers over the past year. This was announced on August 1 by Viktor Lyashok, a leading researcher at the INSAP Center of the IPEI Presidential Academy.
"Starting from August 1, pensions for working pensioners will be increased — the length of service and insurance premiums paid by employers for the last 12 months of work will be taken into account," Lyashok told RIA Novosti.
The expert noted that the increase will affect old-age and disability insurance pensions for citizens who worked in 2025. At the same time, it is mandatory for employers to transfer insurance premiums for these employees.
Besides, according to Lyashka, recalculation can affect payments in case of loss of the breadwinner. This will happen if the individual personal account of the deceased has received insurance premiums that were not previously taken into account when assigning a pension.
Stanislav Odintsovo, PhD in Law, Associate Professor of the Department of Civil Law and Procedure and Private International Law at the RUDN Law Institute, said that the Social Fund of Russia will conduct an annual recalculation of funded pensions from August 1, after which payments will increase by 17.3%. The expert noted that the recalculation will be carried out automatically and is associated with a positive investment income for the past year, which exceeded the inflation rate.
