- The self-employed will be able to receive their first sick leave payments from August 1.
From August 1, self-employed citizens in Russia will be able to receive insurance payments on disability certificates under the voluntary insurance program. This was announced by Ivan Kravchenko, a junior researcher at the INSAP IPEI Center of the Presidential Academy.
"In order to receive benefits, payments must be made for at least six months, so those who joined the program at the beginning of the year can already receive insurance payments from August," Kravchenko told RIA Novosti.
Citizens who have been making contributions for at least six months will be able to receive compensation for the period of illness. The amount of payments will depend on the amount of voluntary payments to the Social Fund of Russia. According to the expert, on average, for one day of temporary disability, the self-employed will be able to receive from 1.7 thousand to 2.5 thousand rubles.
State Duma deputy Dmitry Gusev said on July 5 that a new voluntary social insurance system has been launched in Russia, which allows the self-employed to independently choose the level of protection and receive paid sick leave. A participant in the system becomes eligible for temporary disability benefits six months after the start of payment of insurance premiums. The parliamentarian stressed that the first payments on sick leave will be available to the self-employed in August.
