Tom Holland and Zendaya disobeyed the advice of the producer of "Spider-Man" about the relationship

Amy Pascal, the producer of the Spider-Man films, said that from the very beginning she advised Tom Holland and Zendaya not to have a romantic relationship. However, the actors, like their predecessors in the franchise, did not listen to her. This was reported by People magazine on July 28.

According to Pascal, after Holland and Zendaya were confirmed for the roles of Peter Parker and MJ, she talked to each of them separately and asked them not to mix work and personal life. The producer explained that such romances can complicate the filming process. However, she admitted that no one ever takes her advice seriously.

However, she noted that currently Holland and Zendaya "seem very happy together."

The producer also recalled that the previous on-screen couple, Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone, who dated from 2011 to 2015, had received a similar warning. Moreover, Tobey Maguire had an off-set romance with Kirsten Dunst while working on the first Spider-Man trilogy.

Tom Holland and Zendaya met during the auditions for the movie "Spider-Man: Homecoming," which premiered in 2017. Rumors about their relationship surfaced shortly after the premiere, and the couple officially confirmed the romance in the summer of 2021. In the first half of 2026, it became known that the actors got married.

In an interview with Variety magazine on June 16, Holland indirectly confirmed his marriage to Zendaya. The interviewer told the actor about the pictures allegedly generated by the neural network from the wedding ceremony, which spread online after rumors of the wedding. During the conversation, the reaction of his grandmother was mentioned, who mistook the photos for genuine and was upset that she was not invited to the celebration. When asked if the actor had to explain himself to the rest of his relatives, he replied: "No, because they were all there."

The fourth part of the film starring Holland and Zendaya is called "Spider-Man: A New Day." The plot unfolds four years after the events of the previous installment of Spider-Man: No Way Home. According to the film, Peter Parker will have to face the consequences of his choice, because of which the world has forgotten his true name. The world premiere took place on July 31.
