Medvedev pointed to the failure of Western attempts to harm Russia

The West's attempts to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia not only on the battlefield, but also in the economy are doomed to failure. This was announced on July 31 by Dmitry Medvedev, Deputy Chairman of the Russian Security Council, during a meeting on countering the sanctions policy of Western countries against Russian companies.

According to him, the West's actions outside the battlefield are part of a campaign aimed at the strategic defeat of Russia and its economic complex. The Deputy Chairman of the Security Council noted that various legal and economic measures must be taken to counter this course.

"A strategic defeat not only on the battlefield, but also in general, the entire economic complex of the Russian Federation. I am sure that such attempts are doomed to failure, but in order to properly counter this course, various legal and economic measures must be taken," he said, a video message posted on his channel in the Maks messenger.

On Defender of the Fatherland Day, the President praised the courage of Russian soldiers and the experience gained by the Russian army during the special operation.

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said on July 27 that after the collapse of the USSR, there was a risk of Russia disappearing as a single state due to the desire of Western countries to break it up into small territories. He also noted that Moscow's opponents were counting on the final disintegration of the country before a strong centralized government appeared in it.

In turn, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that at present, in conditions of struggle and intense competition, the contours of a new world order are taking shape. He also noted that geopolitical opponents use double standards and deliberately ignore the first article of the UN Charter on the right of nations to self-determination, recalling international norms only in cases of their own benefit.
