The Ministry of Health has identified the categories of patients for the use of the melanoma vaccine

A domestic mRNA vaccine for the treatment of melanoma can be used in adult patients with inoperable or metastatic skin melanoma. This was reported to RIA Novosti on July 28, citing data from the Russian Ministry of Health's National Research Center for Radiology.

"The vaccine can be administered to patients with skin melanoma with distant metastases who have not received antitumor drug treatment," the document says.

The drug is also indicated for adult Russians with melanoma after surgical removal of all metastatic foci.

It is noted that patients with recurrent disease in the absence of brain metastases, as well as people with newly diagnosed stage IB–IV melanoma who are planning surgery, can receive the vaccine. In addition, the vaccine is indicated for patients with distant metastases who have not received antitumor drug therapy.

The NMIC of Radiology reported on June 21 that the full course of treatment with a domestic mRNA vaccine for the treatment of melanoma lasts about six months. According to the treatment regimen, the vaccine is administered on the first, eighth, and 15th days, followed by an increase in the intervals to one injection every 21 days. It is specified that in total, up to ten injections can be prescribed to the patient, which are used in conjunction with immunotherapy treatment.
