Rescuers evacuated the bodies of the dead climbers on Mount Elbrus

Rescuers evacuated the bodies of the climbers who died on Elbrus, they were taken to the base of the Ministry of Emergency Situations. Footage of the evacuation on July 27 is published by Izvestia.

According to the Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations in Kabardino-Balkaria, search operations have been completed — the bodies of three citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and one resident of the Krasnodar Territory were handed over to the investigative task force in the Azau clearing.

A registered group of seven people was climbing Mount Elbrus and found themselves at an altitude of about 5,100 m. During the ascent, two climbers became ill, after which one of the participants went for help. Later it became known about the deaths of five people.

The request for help to the remaining climbers on the mountain became known on July 25. Eight rescuers moved to the place. The climbers climbed Elbrus on their own, without the involvement of a professional guide. Only two of them survived — Kharis A. and Kemal V., born in 1983 and 1988. Later it became known that the climbers took a domestic cat on a hike, the fate of the animal is unknown.

The Vedro Zenica climbing club, whose members were the dead, said that the citizens of BiH were not tourists, but experienced climbers. The Russian Mountaineering Federation noted that the reason for their deaths was the lack of proper planning and an inadequate assessment of weather conditions.
