Russian swimmers took the entire podium at the Junior European Championships

Russian athletes won all medals in the women's 5 km backstroke at the European Junior Open Water Swimming Championships on Friday, July 24.

In the age category of 14-15 years, Kira Guseva received the gold award. She covered the distance in 1 hour 3.17 seconds.

Anastasia Sinyakova won silver, losing 1.88 seconds to the winner. The bronze medalist was Nelly Petrovskaya, who was 8.81 seconds behind Guseva.

Alan Nosov won another medal for the Russian national team. In the men's 5 km swim among athletes of the same age category, he took second place with a score of 57 minutes 26.69 seconds.

The European Junior Open Water Swimming Championships are held from July 23 to 26 at Lake Velence in Sukoro, Hungary. Russian athletes take part in competitions with the national flag and anthem.

Two-time Olympic swimming champion Evgeny Rylov held his last swim on June 6 after the opening ceremony of the Russian Championships in Kazan. In addition to the Olympic silver and bronze medals, the 29-year-old Russian swimmer won two gold medals at the Tokyo Games in 2021 in the 100 m and 200 m backstroke.
