Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate, accused of human trafficking, were detained in Miami on a warrant issued after a request for their extradition from the British authorities. This was reported by the Associated Press (AP) on July 19, citing sources.

"Brothers Andrew and Tristan Tate <... They were arrested on Saturday in Miami as British authorities sought their extradition on charges of rape and human trafficking for sexual exploitation," the publication says.

It is specified that in the near future the brothers should appear before the Miami federal court.

According to the agency, Andrew and Tristan Tate, who have U.S. and British citizenship, moved to Romania in 2016. In 2022, they were detained on charges of involvement in a scheme of sexual exploitation of women. The brothers denied all charges, and the case was subsequently dismissed due to legal and procedural violations.

In addition, the British prosecutor's office filed new charges against the Tate brothers on the same day.

"The Crown Prosecution Service has decided to bring additional charges against the Tate brothers in connection with four other victims," a statement on the department's website said.

After the brothers' detention in the United States, the British prosecutor's office intends to seek their extradition both on the previously filed 21 charges and on new charges.

The Guardian newspaper reported on July 1 that four family members were arrested in the US state of Ohio, who had been holding 16 children captive in unsanitary conditions for several years. According to authorities, children between the ages of one and a half and 18 spent most of their time locked in one room, where there was human waste everywhere. It is noted that some of the rescued could not speak. According to investigators, the family has been moving around the southern part of the state for two decades, avoiding the creation of medical records and state archives.
